Who would have thought that small things could do wonders?
Fish Pedicures are really making a splash in the United Kingdom as well as the United States today. A lot of people are curious and ecstatic about trying on this new treatment, because this is not just your usual luxury pedicure for it is taken to a new level with the use of small carps called Garra Rufa or “Doctor Fish” that nibbles away all the dead skin cells on your feet. Leaving your footsies smooth, fresh, relieved, and back into shape.
Garra Rufa Fish
It has been said that the Garra Rufa Fish is discovered in Southern Turkey in early 1800’s by a shepherd who injured his foot and decided to bathe it in a hot spring. To his amazement, hundreds of little fishes surrounded his foot and nibbled at his wound. Later, he noticed how fast his wound was healed. Word began to spread about this marvelous tale and flocks of people began to come to the hot springs to seek treatment from the so called, “Doctor Fish”.
For those who are curious on what does it feels like to have a fish pedicure, it is said that the sensation is very gentle and many people describe it as light tickling and somewhat ‘mild pins and needles’. Don’t you worry because these fishes do not have any teeth and they actually only remove the dead skin cells on your feet with their gentle sucking action, leaving healthy skin cells behind.
There had been health scares about this treatment recently regarding the spread of infection from person to person, but if you consider and choose a reputable salon or spa where proper hygiene is taken seriously and of highest importance, there should not be any problem.
Fish have healing properties
Fish Pedicures is said to be very beneficial both in beauty and health as well. Aside from the fact that it really softens the skin, it also stimulates blood flow, and releases fatigue. The fishes too have healing properties, because of the natural enzymes found in their saliva called diathanol which heals the skin.
So why not try having a fish pedicure today? Enjoy and indulge yourself for some pampering after a hard days work.
